Nathan Vasher deal overshadowed by Tank Johnson

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

A lot has been happening over the past day.

We have signed Nathan Vasher to a five year extension. On the same day, we released troubled Tank Johnson.

Now I’m not sure which news is bigger, or has a better impact on the up coming season for the Bears. While we know Tank Johnson is lost for 8 games, which could be reduced to 6, we weren’t sure what new action the Chicago Bears or new NFL Commissioner would take.

Well, on Monday, the Chicago Bears released Tank Johnson. Well, they technically waived him. I’m not sure if there is a difference. I’m sure there probably is.

The big news for the fans, we have Nathan Vasher for 5 more years. With free agency, that probably keeps him in

Chicago for 3 more years for sure.

Nathan Vasher was selected in the fourth round (110th overall) back in 2004.

While Nathan Vasher isn’t a shut down corner, he is sure to get better.

Well, that’s it in a nutshell.. More to follow..

Well it’s the middle of the Offseason, and it shows!

Man, there really isn’t much going on with the Chicago Bears. It’s the middle of June, and while we wait for mini-camp, we just have to have patience.

If ya want video clips, check out DaBears.com or DaBearz.com. They both have a pretty impressive video section.

Anyway, players are doing their own thing. They are having their football camps, community projects, or having their foundation fundraisers.

I know R. Brown recently had his annual cycle run. My man Guitarzan-54 attended the event. Not sure why he hasn’t posted the pictures on DaBears.com or DaBearz.com yet, but when you have a camera with a powder flash, I guess it takes time. lol

So hopefully we will have more news. There’s no news on Lance Brigg’s progress, or lack of. We have no idea how players have progressed. We are only getting mild rumors about player’s performance.

If only I was able to attend them myself, but the darn job is keeping me away. I wish I could get to camp, but it looks like I won’t be making it this year.

Ok, now I’m just talking to talk, so I’ll go ahead and end this for now.

Remember to get in your daily “ThePackersSuck”, and remember to ALWAYS BEAR-DOWN!!!

til then,

Rick

Another Arena League Gamble?

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Well, we’ve had some success with our grab thus far in the Arena league. We grabbed Rashied Davis awhile back. Now yes Rashied Davis is a third down receiver, but you can’t argue that he hasn’t helped to take the Bears to a new level.

If you aren’t sure if you’ve seen Rashied Davis, then just watch just about any Bears clip. He’s the guy who jumps up in the air, throws his hands down and sort of does a chest bump. It’s a pretty decent celebration.

Anyway, the Chicago Bears think they can pull from the well once again. They signed Timon Marshell away from the Grand Rapis Rampage on Tuesday with a three year contract.

Marshall was seventh in th AFL with 35 touchdowns, 102 receptions with 1,134 yards.

Now it appears that the Bears are counting on his ability to play on both sides of the ball. Is it me, or are the Bears shopping more for players who are able to move around the ball? Marshall did play cornerback as well in the AFL. Rumor has it he will be used for offense. Depending on our defensive needs, playing him at corner still remains an option.

I do like the direction we are heading. Jerry Angelo seems to be using all means to get talent. It’s no secret that Jerry has had a great eye for talent. Now whether it truely is Jerry picking the mid-round draft picks, he’s surely to get all the credit.

So the Bears really seem to be showing they are commited to having a great team. We are applying grease to the sqeaky wheel. We needed a better offense to beat Indy at the Super Bowl. Well, traditionally, we have signed defensive players even though we had offensive needs.

This year proves to be different, with the selection of Benson, Olsen, and all the mid-range talent.

This season is shaping up to be excited!

More to come tomorrow!
